- What it is
- A molecule made in a lab, first made by Firmenich in 1986.
- When you smell it
- Heart: as it settles.
- What perfumers do with it
- Everyday floralizer and hydroxycitronellal replacement; builds muguet and lilac without shifting a formula's character.
- Worth knowing
- Unlike hydroxycitronellal it is neither IFRA-restricted nor a labelled allergen, so perfumers use it from traces to overdoses.
