Bran absolute
Buttery toasted wheat and warm biscuit with honey, dried apricot and hay, drying to soft pecan and a hint of chocolate.
- What it is
- Natural absolute from wheat bran, the outer coat of the grain.
- When you smell it
- Dry-down: what stays.
- What perfumers do with it
- Smooths tobacco accords and gives florals a honeyed warmth; pairs with dried fruit, tea and amber notes, and makes lighter materials last.
- Worth knowing
- Its waxes can cloud a perfume, so perfumers dissolve it in a warm carrier before use.
- Known in
- Old Fashioned (Kilian, 2024)
- Rules
- Limited. Its maker's IFRA 51 certificate caps it at 40% of a fine fragrance; it holds traces of restricted 2-hexenal and benzyl benzoate
