Natural oil from steam-distilled flower heads.
Where it comes from
Egypt and Eastern Europe
When you smell it
Heart: as it settles.
What perfumers do with it
Tiny amounts add depth and natural warmth to tobacco, tea, chypre and ambery accords.
Worth knowing
The inky blue isn't in the flower: chamazulene forms from matricin during steam distillation.
