Perfumes mixed by hand at the counter and named for a main note plus their number of ingredients; Santal 33 is the one people know.
Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi dreamed up Le Labo in Grasse and opened its first lab at 233 Elizabeth Street, New York, in 2006, mixing each perfume by hand for the buyer. Estée Lauder bought it in 2014. Trade press names its best-known perfume among the luxury hits that lower-priced brands copy.
