A French skincare and makeup house that began with perfume; La Vie Est Belle is among the world's 15 best-selling perfumes, by its owner's count.
Armand Petitjean founded Lancôme in France in 1935 as a perfume house and launched its first five perfumes that year at the Brussels World's Fair; skincare followed in 1936. L'Oréal has owned it since 1964.
