Clean, watery scents from a Tokyo designer; L'Eau d'Issey (1992), meant to smell like water, and its 1994 men's version are its best known.
Issey Miyake, born in Hiroshima, founded the Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo in 1970 and became known for pleated clothes. His first perfume, L'Eau d'Issey, came in 1992; Shiseido makes the perfumes under licence. Miyake died in 2022.
