Paris perfumes and candles drawn from nature and travel; Philosykos, a whole fig tree in scent, is its classic, and Orphéon tops its best-seller list.
Three friends, painter Desmond Knox-Leet, designer Christiane Gautrot and stage designer Yves Coueslant, opened Diptyque at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain in 1961, selling fabrics; candles followed in 1963 and the first perfume in 1968. Manzanita Capital owns it today.
Owned by
Manzanita Capital, a London investment firm, since 2005. Diptyque makes its own perfumes. Checked September 2026.
