François Coty's Paris perfume company, remembered for Chypre (1917), which named a perfume family; today it makes perfumes for Burberry, Chloé and Marc Jacobs.

François Coty, a Corsican who studied perfume in Grasse, founded Coty in Paris in 1904 with La Rose Jacqueminot and grew it into a worldwide business. Today it is a listed beauty company, about half owned by JAB Holding.
