Clinique
United States
Allergy-tested skincare sold by consultants in white lab coats, and two perfumes: the bright citrus-floral Happy and the patchouli-heavy Aromatics Elixir.
In 1967 a Vogue article asked whether great skin could be created. Estée Lauder's company hired its authors, editor Carol Phillips and dermatologist Norman Orentreich, and opened Clinique at Saks Fifth Avenue in 1968. Its first perfume, Aromatics Elixir, came in 1971.
Owned by
The Estée Lauder Companies, which created the brand in 1968. Clinique makes its own perfumes. Checked October 2026.
